About Saturday Night Fever the Musical

Coming to Singapore this September at the MasterCard Theatres in Marina Bay Sands, BASE Entertainment presents a revamped and re-conceptualised version of ‘Saturday Night Fever the Musical’, inspired by the movie that tells the story of Tony Manero. The musical’s international cast directed by Bobby Garcia - whose experience extends to directing stage productions like Disney’s Aladdin and Shrek the Musical - will showcase songs from the movie’s original soundtrack like “Stayin’ Alive”, “Night Fever”, “More Than a Woman”, “Tragedy”, “Disco Inferno”, “How Deep is Your Love”, and “”You Should Be Dancing”.

Following the eponymous flick’s premise, the musical revolves around Tony Manero and his dream of becoming the Disco King, despite his dead-beat job. In pursuing his ambition through Saturday nights spent at the disco, Tony meets Stephanie who also dreams of a life beyond the dead-end slums of Brooklyn. Together, they train in tandem with hopes of winning a dance competition, only to have their lives begin to change forever. Slick dance moves and dazzling choreography spark and fizzle alongside flares and fancy light work as the musical brings to life seventies’ anthems by the Bee Gees.

Highlights

  • Plot revolves around Tony Manero who seeks to escape his mundane job through his passion for dance and ambition to be the Disco King.
  • Musical performance based on the iconic 1977 movie that starred John Travolta and Karen Lynn Gorney.
  • Production features choreography inspired by the disco-era of the 70s.
  • Featuring a list of iconic hits by the Bee Gees from the movie’s original soundtrack like “Stayin’ Alive”, “Night Fever”, “Jive Talking”, “You Should Be Dancing”, and “How Deep is Your Love”.
